Did you know you could combine our short url feature in Quick SMS with placeholders?
Simply create a contact list and add the path in the custom fields to get a unique link sent to each contact.
For example, your message could be
Hello! Check out my video at youtube.com(Cust. 1)
and in the contact list, have the value for custom field 1 be
/watch?v=j4RJMeP-jlk
If you've sent the message with the shorten-urls toggled on, the recipient would receive a message which then redirects them to the link of your choice.
When using the shorturl functionality through the Quick SMS or sms/send endpoints previously, URLs must start with https:// in order to be sent.
This restriction has now been removed, and any link with a valid domain will be accepted.
Hot on the heels of our API release last year, you will now be able to shorten your URLs when sending out a message via the Quick SMS page on our dashboard.
Head over to https://dashboard.clicksend.com/sms/quick-sms, toggle the feature on, and give it a whirl!
For our API users, simply include the shorten_urls parameter to true. More information can be found at https://developers.clicksend.com/docs/messaging/sms/
Extending the functionality of our new short-url feature from last year, you will now be able to track the click-through rates and get specifics on how often your links are being opened per recipient.
For more information, visit our API documentation at https://developers.clicksend.com/docs/messaging/url-shortening/
You've asked, we've heard!
The Quick SMS endpoint (v3/sms/send) now supports the ability to send shortened URL links, saving your characters for what matters most - your message.
For the moment, this is limited to API users only, but the dashboard experience will be coming out in the new year.
To find out more, please visit https://developers.clicksend.com/docs/messaging/sms/#operation/send-sms for guidance on integrating and https://help.clicksend.com/article/1cqf0m0vni-short-url-in-quick-sms for a more in depth explanation
