It's five years someone asked for this, can't believe it is difficult to do this. Can Clicksend give a reason for this.

Hi Joel, When I get a Delivery status message back from Clicksend there is no mention of the inbound or outbound numbers in that status message. So we append the inbound, outbound and our session id into the custom_string parameter. The length of the custom_string in our case exceeds 50 characters and when we get that back it is truncated so we can't recover our session id from it.

We'll look into improving our delivery status responses as well so that it can help make the custom string field more flexible
