I would love it if it were kept indefinetly or at least for 7 years. I use the service to issue default notices to customers and having a record here of mailing is a good independent way of me verifying that I did send a letter if its ever denied by the defaulter.

I completely agree. In a world of unlimited storage, I fail to see the reason why a 4 month rule would apply to a business service. We needed to check on a campaign we sent six months ago but there is apparently no way to do so.
